We are delighted to have two active groups of children here at South Rise.  We are proud to share that we have an active School Council and Eco Council.

Our School Council is a group of elected representatives; 3 children from each year group from Year 2-6, who work together to represent the views of all our children and so improve our school to meet the needs and fulfil the potential of all our children in a harmonious diverse community.  Ms Ross-Munro leads this group.

Our Eco Council is a group of elected representatives from all year groups who have a passion for our natural environment and sustainability.  We are so pleased that we have children who are dedicated to this important issue.  Ms Johnson-Clarke and Miss Lima lead this group. 

Who are our School Councillors?

We have 3 children per year group from Year 2-6.

Our 2025/26 school council members are: Poppy, Dominic, Dylan, Romziyah, Thalia, Unique, Uthman, Pranay, Jane, Maicee, Letisha, Krit, KiKi, Eniola & Nathan. 

What does our School Council do?

They meet regularly and discuss important issues that are relevant to our children and school, such as the development of our anti-bullying policy.  

This year, they are going to be meeting with Chartwells to talk about food waste and have a standing remit to discuss and feed back on Opal at every meeting. They lead assemblies to make sure that they share their messages across the school.

Who are our eco councillors?

They are elected representatives from across our school. 

Our 2026/2027 Eco Council members are: Noah, Jed, Youssef, Ameerah, Umar, Mohammed, Jannat, Jane, Laiba, Darsh, Shenieyah, Finley, Nicole, Amaiya & Umme

What does our eco council do?

Our Eco Council work hard to promote sustainability and share ideas about how to improve our environment.  This includes litter picking in and around our school, encouraging classes to turn lights off when they leave their rooms and promoting recycling. 

Last year, our Eco Council met our local MP, Abena Oppong-Asare, to talk about these important issues.  She even joined them on a litter pick!

Great news!  Our Eco Council has secured the Green Flag for our school.  We are delighted to share that their hard work has been recognised by this important award!
